ReflectionYou may be confused about the title, but bear with me, we will get there. First things first, the writing process....
Writing the perfect paper or the perfect novel is an art form. A frickin' annoying art form. If all arts are as hard as writing, then I feels for Michaelangelo and Raphael and da Vinci, just to name my three big inspirations. But I'm assuming that writing a well written paper on my Macbook, from the comforts of a nice warm library, drinking my cup of coffee is slightly different than laying on my back, painting the roof of the Sistine Chapel. But thats only an assumption. With that said, if you haven't figured it out yet, writing is something that does not come natural for me. It takes dozens of ideas, and from those ideas, a few good ideas. And then from those few good ideas not a single one. Rather, a completely different topic (You were probably thinking I picked a topic out of the list I narrowed). Picking an adult research topic is even harder than picking a topic for an informal novel. So naturally, your mind races even more and you procrastinate even more when figuring out what to write. (Everyone knows that the more important something is, the more you hesitate to start it.) Narrowing my topic list down to pick only one topic was like trying to bob for apples... You approach the barrel feeling optimistic and thinking you got that shit, but when you actually go to bite, that shit is not easy, at all (and to think, doing that same thing when being inebriated). And then after you finally get an apple, you spit that apple back out and realize your not going to pick an apple out of the barrel, rather your going to go with a completely different apple. Yea, thats exactly what happened. My first list of possible topics were shot down. Personally, I'm kinda glad they got shot down. They were all mundane and relatively stupid. So then back to the drawing board I went. And by drawing board, I mean my bedroom with my babe, Netflix. As I was chilling with my babe eating popcorn, I stumbled across a movie... |
How I chose it... |
... Laying in bed with babe, I found what seemed to be an amazing idea. Why not write my paper about food?!?! Because we all love food. After watching the movie "Food Matters", I was immediately convinced. My research topic was not going to be from the same barrel of mundane topics that everyone else was picking from. Rather I picked an apple from a completely different barrel... Nutritional Therapy.

Why I chose it... |
The topic I chose was relatively boring, not gonna lie. But I just could not let the movie I saw slip into the back of my mind and forget about it without giving it at least some importance in my life. The importance of eating healthy is CRUCIAL. Too many people think that they are a young athlete and can eat whatever they want as long as they work hard. That is not true. Giving your body the proper fuel only pushes you that much further. For myself, I am very mindful of what I eat because I am past the age where I can eat whatever and still perform like Dan Bilzerian.

So after going through this course and finalizing my work, I have to come to realize that I have been able to fulfill all of the course outcomes successfully. The different projects throughout the course have allowed me to take a look at arguments and writings from a rhetorical perspective. For example, whilst doing the project two, a rhetorical analysis, of an article, I was able to see how the article was used to develop an argument using the concepts of rhetoric.
Another nail that I have been able to hit on the head was the use of multimodal media to convey an argument. The best example of this was done using our fourth project, the zine. The zine was a small informal pamphlet to convey our message to the audience. Personally, I think i rocked that project, looking back at it retrospectively.
A third outcome that I have successfully completed with this course was having reflective interactions with my peers and instructor on my work. Through different in-class sessions, I was able to receive peer feedback on my work. With the help of 21st century programs, and google, I was also able to receive feedback from my professor about my work.
