To sample , or not to sample......Even people who have previously had cancer are highly recommended to go to a nutritional therapist. Cancer patients typically have some digestive issues and the goal is to help prevent malnutrition and the keep the individual well nourished. Many cancer patients seek medicine and other alternatives so they will not feel the digestive pains and other side effects, however the Cancer Treatment Center of America encourages its patients to seek Nutritional therapy. Cancer patients diets differ greatly from the average human because of the disease affects the body’s consumption for certain nutrients. Some of the tumors greatly affect the proteins, carbohydrates and fat intake since the body is now using different nutrients.
People who have eating disorders are also common patients to these therapists. Some people who have issues with stress, anxiety, depression, and so on go to nutritional therapist as well. Even though these are problems that many people have they can be solved with changing your diet. People with food allergies are also starting to discuss their diets with nutritional therapists. Food allergies are slightly more difficult to work around since their are already restrictions on the individual’s diet. A poor diet negatively impacts the function of a body as it may result in illnesses such as high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. Since a complete diet includes vitamins, proteins, carbs etc. it is vital to eat healthy and in the long run will help with the quality of life and health of an individual. Many of the problems listed above can be controlled by the diet and what one puts into the body. Some of the diseases are genetically inherited however they can still be better or at least improved through a proper diet and guidance. Nutritional therapy is a way that some of these diseases can be bettered for the person’s health and living. In turn, nutritional therapy works by advising and working on health and diet on an individual basis. According to the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, in nutritional therapy “patients presents with chronic health problems” (Davies, 2005) but because it is difficult to link the cause of disorders with diet people often cannot get a diagnosis. The way nutritional therapist work is to find where the root of the problem is and associate that with health and diet. The health therapist then sets up a unique program that addresses the issue. Because this may seem like an “unorthodox approach” many people see it as an ineffective practice. There is extensive research that proves that nutritional therapy can be quite effective.... |
